Even The Smallest Progress is Progress

Now for the reading and writing portion of our program!!

As I've been trying to catch up in all aspects of my life after a family tragedy I had lost track with editing CF so now I'm trying to get back on track with that. Besides trying to put my own book into a place where I can manage my time effectively, I have been trying to achieve the clarity I need to in order to get what I need to done.

That my friends is editing. I have to get the editing done so that I can move forward. With this thought I am still trying to figure out what is the best publishing road to take. I am a member of Writing.com and I know that connections on Goodreads will help. I need to take one thing at a time now though and since I have the second book in mind already I have to get moving in a most serious way so I have delved back into the editing process and it's a little bit at a time until I can give it solid time at the computer.

Of course I made it more difficult for myself as I have printed out pages that I edit with good old pen and ink and then make the changes via the computer as well so should I chalk that up to my process? Does it help me see things I might have missed? Everyone has their quirks right? I do acknowledge though that it is a waste of paper to do it and it's funny because I only do it on printed pages when I'm not going to have access to my thumb drive.

I have been reading again too and once I looked at my Reading Challenge I'm now 4 books behind. The time of year has come though that I generally read more, again time management of my organized chaos will come into plan. I typically read when I commute and before bed and I do have 3 books on the go right now.

I'm about halfway through and it's been a bit tough to get into because the perspective is from Chaol Westfall's and all of the regular characters are off doing the things they were doing in her last book Empire of Storms. I'm happy though that she brought in another character from her book Assassins Blade. Still reading it so we'll see how it goes.

Next...

This is a series that I started and stopped and now started again. It was slow going for me but I'm over the hump I had in the beginning of it. I'm only about a quarter of the way through it and only stopped because Tower of Dawn came out but I can't wait to get back to it.

Last up!...

Now this series I blew through very quickly up until this last book, not because there was anything wrong with it but I had to savour it. The only reason I slowed reading this one is because I got it in hardcover and the book is too huge to commute with or read in the tub! I will return to it though since I actually miss those characters right now!

So that is a brief update of where I'm at right now and after just checking my challenge I'm actually 5 books behind...oh my...

Well I best get on it then!

Talk to you soon!

A Writers Update

Well today is a two blog post day!

I'm not sure if I told you guys already ( if I looked to previous posts I would know ) but I have started the hunt to look for a publisher or should I self publish??? These are the questions I need answers to. I told myself that by the end of June I would have made a decision and would move forward with one or the other.

It was funny because although I had finished writing the first book I kept looking at my page count that hovered around 170 pages. I kept thinking "OMG I have to write more!!" That was hard because I didn't want to bleed into my draft for the second book and was trying to find ways to extend it. That being said me being completely green to this process I decided to look up Manuscript parameters and what do you know...I gained 300 pages once I converted the whole thing and then it actually felt like it was finished.

Besides a read through and edit it's done and by the end of the month it will be ready to go and I'm excited and terrified at the same time but on top of all of that...whether I get published or not I...wrote...a...book... Something that was in my head is now on paper and that makes me proud as hell of myself.

So what are the next steps? I have no idea but I will research and question and find out everything I can to make it happen!!!

Sometimes I can't breathe when I think about it...

And advice is welcome! Pros, Cons of Self Publishing whatever you have I need to know it all!!

In the meantime I've been speed reading through Karen Marie Monings Fever Series and I'm hooked as hell. 5 books in a week I'm on book 6 now waiting for the last 3 to be delivered this week.

See Ya

Recently Read: A Court of Wings and Ruin

A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3)A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this book!

You know I love it when it takes me only 2 days to read an 82 Chapter book. I admit that I had to refresh my memory about events that happened in the last book but all in all I was completely taken in to Prythian once again as Feyre had to find their way through their new trials along with her sisters and the rest of the Court of Dreams. I am also happy that the events with Tamlin in the Spring Court didn't take up the whole story seeing as there was so much story to tell.

The relationship between Feyre and Rhysand is one of my faves as (at least out of the books I've read) he seems to be one of only a few male characters that doesn't seem to dominate or want to change his mate in some way and gives her the space and equality that she needs and wants. One of my top books for the year and just like with another book from a different series that I read recently just as quickly... I miss them already.

Update & Thoughts...

It's been a long road to get here. I have started editing and as much as I've done along the way I continue to add and fill and find story gaps. Am I creating some of these gaps as I go along? I have a strong feeling that I am so I have been filling them and as such the book has become longer...

I may never get published but I have at least accomplished something I never thought I would and I'm proud of the fact that I wrote one period! I will continue to write regardless of the outcome because I have a story in my head to tell and it wants out.

Until then I still love to read as much as I can!

The Chosen (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #15)The Chosen by J.R. Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well I devoured this book in 48 hours. I was so excited to read it and it did not disappoint for me even though Qhuinn was ridiculous and part of me understood his struggle. He's always been a dramatic hothead and that's part of why I love him. He and Blay had very questionable actions for me as did Layla. I understood her stance but why didn't she understand anyone elses? She came off a little entitled at times but I guess as a Chosen that goes with the territory. Xcor well I have loved him since his beginning his trauma side by side with V's who is probably my fave Brother although I love them all...except Phury who has seemed to have faded away into obscurity and even though Rhevenge is not a Brother it would be nice to see him back somewhere as well.

I didn't find the story as strong as some of JR Wards others but that didn't dim my love of the of the series as a whole and I will continue to eat through her books. Her writing is comfortable to me and I missed the Brothers as soon as I finish the book. It doesn't matter if it's a BDB or a Legacy story they're a part of my world.

Forever and always.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Trilogy I waited until I read all of before I said anything and I read all 3 books within a weeks time pretty much after I committed to Red Rising which was my off and on book while I read a couple of others but once I was invested and the story took hold it was at the forefront of my mind and really, really hard to put down.

Darrows story and his battle with himself about why he was doing the things he did sat heavy with me like I could completely understand the struggle he had with his identity and the people around him, his friends, his enemies, his loves. There were betrayals I didn't see coming and I believe it or not even shed a tear for more than one big man. The society that was built on the dust of the Reds was indulging and sad but so familiar.

There were a couple of characters that disappeared from the story that I would have liked to see more of like Evey but she wasn't necessary to the story anymore.

I have to say that this Trilogy was exciting to read and kept me up at night because I couldn't close the book.

I can't wait for Iron Gold which is a new Trilogy but has characters we know and love within the pages.

Archangels Shadow Review

Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #7)Archangel's Shadows by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It took me little while to get through this one only because my reading has slowed over the past few weeks.

As much as I was interested in the relationship between Ashwini and Janvier as the story went on I became much more intrigued with Naasir if only because it's the first real insight into how different his character is in this book compared to all of the others.

He is truly a mystery wrapped in a simple semi innocent shell.

Ashwini and Janvier are sweet much like Jason and Mahiya but in the opposite way of attraction. Ash and Janvier knew they loved each other where Jason and Mahiya found their way to each other. Either way as I've said previously each pairing has something in common but in drastically different ways that I love to read.

Reading Challenge Update

Well since I don't only write but I read, here's a few brief thoughts about what I've read recently. Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6)Archangel's Legion by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So...we're back with Raphael and Elena in this story and the evolution continues!

Having to save their city from the worst enemy has a way of bringing 2 people together...or tearing them apart.

Elena's emotional demons are still with her and as much as I hope for her that they will disappear it's good to see that they're still there and Nalini Singh didn't just have them vanish because of the love of a good man.

The running story beneath with Illium interests me so much and even though I have 2 more books to read until I'm caught up, I crave more of his story and I'm sure that's what was intended. that being said I would like to see more inside of Galen as well and I'm hoping that I can soon.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh My! I really liked this story!

I love how in the first book Lynne is clumsy and in this Vinnie has her own issues. I mean the men have dominance problems now is that something that the Scorpious has enhanced? A caveman mentality? Yet the women are so soft and cute like for the most part.

The relationships between the characters although they happen very quickly feel much like a family as the men threaten to shoot each other often and seem to like spanking as a form of discipline as well as motivation and torture at the same time on adult women making me laugh out loud at the way it was presented.

Can't wait to read more.

What To Do Now?

So I have to do something with this space now.

I stopped posting the story here because I felt like I was rushing each week to give you something to read and I wanted to focus on the story because I really do want to be published someday soon and hopefully that time is coming as I have finished the first draft and now have to edit and probably re-edit.

This actually terrifies me along with several other things right now. It took me a long time to get to this point. Lots of procrastination and thoughts of failure that could still happen but I'll never know until I try right? So now the fun begins and more torture awaits me as I second guess myself and probably my story but I'm going to give it my best shot and at least I can say that I accomplished writing a novel...even if it sucks...it's mine.

So...this is my Continuous Flow Space and all things CF related. So if you want to see how the story ends, hopefully you can see it in print later on. I can say that Skye and Carol Anne have got a lot of work to do trying to keep Georgia and Anya on the right side of things but the 2 Goddesses have to be bad sometime and won't that keep the Guardians busy.

Artwork and other things of interest for the series will be forthcoming and I can't wait!

Keep the flow smooth!
